The time was about 10:40pm July 4 evening and the Fireworks Show from the Jetty had just ended. The site was South Beach, several thousand onlookers were treated to a fabulous show…then tragedy struck.FaceBooker SuZanna Kathlene Church shared the disturbing news on the incident which placed her three year old nephew, William Lupan, in harm's way.Sheriff Garrett Scott declared the fireworks were highly illegal and an investigation is now underway. The Sheriff has reported there were 14 individuals who suffered injuries on South Beach but was not specific in details.SuZanna Kathlein shared, “ LLlast Thursday evening in Crescent City, a group of people who were playing with mortars, made a mistake and the box exploded. My nephew (name not revealed) was in the crossfire. He’s only three years old. He got hit in the back and has inhalation burns, burns on his skin and more. His lung collapsed while they were lifeflighting him to Portland. He coded for 30 minutes. They don’t know if he will be able to breath on his own, and if he wakes up, what condition he will be in. I’m not 100 percent sure on the story really about the people who were lighting off the mortars. I’m hoping to get more details these people will be brought to justice. Because, if you look at the picture, it’s not fair that a tiny little innocent baby has to be in this condition.
