The California-Hawaii Elks Major Project has been busy this week assessing the vision needs of Del Norte kids, ages 3-6. The Elks of California have sponsored and developed this Vision Care Program to provide emergency financial assistance for eye examinations, glasses and medical care for eligible children with covered eye conditions. The Program was established in 1950 to provide therapy services for children with disabilities who have unmet physical, occupational and speech language therapy needs. In 1965, the Major Project expanded and introduced its Vision Screening Program for kids with vision deficiencies.Cathy Hallman, Pediatric Vision Screener conducted some 150 eye tests for Del Norte preschoolers within the Del Norte Unified School District.
