Will the long-vacant Crescent Fire Protection District building and land be the future home of Del Norte Search and Rescue?Sheriff Garrett Scott must relocate the soon-to-be leveled old mental health building on Williams Drive, currently the home of Del Norte Search and Rescue. The Department of Health and Human Services in partnership with Mission Possible will be razing the building, building and opening Del Norte’s first official emergency homeless center thanks to a $10.823 million grant from the State. The Board of Supervisors has approved The Sheriff the emergency homeless center and pallet housing units on Williams Dr. The Sheriff operates and oversees Search and Rescue and is tasked with finding a new home for the invaluable Search and Rescue team.#placement_573654_0_i{width:100%;max-width:550px;margin:0 auto;}var rnd = window.rnd || Math.floor(Math.random()*10e6);var pid573654 = window.pid573654 || rnd;var plc573654 = window.plc573654 || 0;var abkw = window.abkw || '';var absrc = 'https://ads.empowerlocal.co/adserve/;ID=181918;size=0x0;setID=573654;type=js;sw='+screen.width+';sh='+screen.height+';spr='+window.devicePixelRatio+';kw='+abkw+';pid='+pid573654+';place='+(plc573654++)+';rnd='+rnd+';click=CLICK_MACRO_PLACEHOLDER';var _absrc = absrc.split("type=js"); absrc = _absrc[0] + 'type=js;referrer=' + encodeURIComponent(document.location.href) + _absrc[1];document.write('');One by one, relocation options are dwindling.β€’ The Hamilton Mill site up Crescent Hill is no longer an option.β€’ A small structure adjacent to the jail is currently occupied and being utilized.β€’ The Sheriff could purchase a modular building to be placed across from the DNSD. The lot is owned by the County. Cost for the modular building is unknown. The most logical and flexible option might be the vacant Crescent Fire Protection District (CFPD) building and large lot located at 550 East Cooper Avenue (APN 118-370-015) is available. At the recent CFPD February meeting, commissioners discussed and unanimously voted to sell or lease its long-vacant structure. The site might be the right one for either a sale or lease to Search and Rescue. The lot size is .38 of acre, just under 17, 000 sq.ft. a two stall garage as part of a 1700 sq. ft structure is also available. The CFPD meets Tuesday, March 11 at 5:30 at 255 E. Washington Blvd. googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('ad-1515727'); });
