Heather has shown a natural interest in Budgets and Financial Statements, and I believe she will bring much needed oversight to the finances held by the Del Norte County Board of Supervisors.I asked her why she was running for the Board of Supervisors, and she provided me with the following answer: “I am running for office because I believe that our county can do better. I am tired of a political system that lacks common sense and ordinary kindness. I am worried about the lack of true fiscal responsibility and sound, transparent, long term budgetary planning. In my neighborhood (District 5), we face real issues on housing affordability, crime, lack of health care, road maintenance, good jobs and food insecurity. I am worried about the growing poverty among our elderly population. Our county is filled with great hard working people. We are facing difficult long term problems that I believe we can solve if we listen to each other and work together.
