Tamy K Smathers was born and raised in Del Norte County. She was a lifetime resident and well-known member of the Smith River community. Before becoming ill, she was always on the go but always running late. Most weekdays you could find her at the post office working or more likely talking someone’s ear off. She enjoyed doing things for everyone, crafting, decorating for the holidays and spending time with friends and family. She was a loving mother survived by her mother Mary Ann Reeder 2 children Christina Childre and Evan Ownsbey, 4 grandchildren Riley k, Koltten, Kailexx and Kevaiah. She was an only child but her lifelong friends/neighbors she grew up with were just as close. Including Lisa and Janey Edwards, Lori Fagan, and Rod Rhodus. But there was no one more like a sister to her than her best friend Lisa. Over the years Tamy was a bartender off and on at both the bank tavern and the landing, contract custodian at the Smith River Post Office for 20+ years and did side jobs cleaning when she could. Smith River won’t be the same without her. There’s no doubt she was loved by many and will be missed very much.A celebration of life will be held 2/9/24 from 2-7pm at the Howonquet Hall in Smith River. Come join us for a potluck while we remember our dearly beloved.
