The Border Coast Regional Airport Authority announced a new carrier will service passengers from Crescent City to the Bay area and the Southland.In a special meeting January 3, BCRAA’s Board of Commissioners unanimously voted to terminate the air service agreement with Contour Air with the final date of service to Oakland on March 16. Without interruption, Advanced Air, LLC will make its maiden flight from Crescent City to Oakland on March 17. The Essential Air Service agreement with BCRAA funded by the Department of Transportation operates currently through the end of September, according to Cooley.Advanced Air is headquartered in Hawthorne and its equipment is a 30-seat Dornier 380 regional jet aircraft. Advanced Air will mirror the Contour schedule to Oakland and plans to offer service to the Southland, through Los Angeles Hawthorne airport. Cooley revealed there will be two additional flights and shuttle service to nearby LAX.
