With wildfire risk diminished in the area around the transmission lines serving Crescent City and Del Norte County, Pacific Power is anticipating beginning the process of re-energizing those lines starting as early as Sunday, September 10.This is contingent on coordination with Fire Incident Management Teams and Del Norte County Emergency Operations Center to make sure it is safe to do so. During this process, the generators currently providing power to customers in the area will be taken off-line one at a time, while crews work to switch substations back over to the transmission lines. When this switch-over occurs, customers should expect a brief outage while the necessary connections are re-established. Those outages should only last 1-2 hours and customers will be notified ahead of time. Customers can see a full schedule of when outages in their area will occur on the Pacific Power website. β€œWe want to thank our customers in Del Norte County for their patience and grace during this difficult emergency situation,” said Allen Berreth, vice president of transmission and distribution operations for Pacific Power. β€œThanks to the tireless efforts of our crews on the ground, we were able to accomplish the monumental and unprecedented task of powering an entire county using emergency generators. Those same crews quickly carried out the necessary repairs and inspections needed to safely begin re-energizing our transmission lines.” #placement_573654_0_i{width:100%;max-width:550px;margin:0 auto;}var rnd = window.rnd || Math.floor(Math.random()*10e6);var pid573654 = window.pid573654 || rnd;var plc573654 = window.plc573654 || 0;var abkw = window.abkw || '';var absrc = 'https://ads.empowerlocal.co/adserve/;ID=181918;size=0x0;setID=573654;type=js;sw='+screen.width+';sh='+screen.height+';spr='+window.devicePixelRatio+';kw='+abkw+';pid='+pid573654+';place='+(plc573654++)+';rnd='+rnd+';click=CLICK_MACRO_PLACEHOLDER';var _absrc = absrc.split("type=js"); absrc = _absrc[0] + 'type=js;referrer=' + encodeURIComponent(document.location.href) + _absrc[1];document.write('');Pacific Power will be working in close co-ordination with the Del Norte County Emergency Operations Center during the process of re-energization to ensure minimal disruptions to critical infrastructure and any scheduled community events. Once this process is complete, customers can resume normal electricity use. Pacific Power would like to thank the staff at Del Norte County and the Incident Management Team working the Smith River Complex fires for their partnership and communication, as well as their exhaustive efforts to protect and serve the surrounding communities. googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('ad-1515727'); });
