Joseph โJoeโ Carr left us unexpectedly on February 13, 2023, in Eureka, California at the age of 78.Joe is survived by his wife Marnie Carr (Eureka); children, Amy (Chris) Hansen (Eureka), Joe C. (Cami) Carr (Elko, NV); stepchildren, Josh Thomason (Reno), Windy Thomason (Reno); grandchildren, Mason (Elko, NV), Grace (Elko, NV), Riley (Elko, NV), Lillian Hansen (Eureka); siblings, Walter (Maryland) and Phillip (Wyoming). He is preceded in death by his parents Pauline and Walter H. Carr.Joe was born on July 5, 1944, in the city of War, West Virginia. Joe graduated from Big Creek High School in 1962. After Highschool Joe attended College at Emory and Henry College, in Emory Virginia. Later, Joe joined the Navy as a Medic during the Vietnam war (68-72). After 1972, Joe came to California and graduated from Long Beach State University with a bachelorโs in microbiology and later obtained his degree in Nursing from College of the Redwoods. He married Marnie, a fellow caregiver and best friend in 1989. Joe made his career in Crescent City as a Nurse working for A Street Clinic, Crescent City Convalescent and retired after many years of working at Pelican Bay Prison in 2014. Joe and Marnie lovingly raised their 2 children in Crescent City and enjoyed all the area had to offer. Joe enjoyed fishing and spending his time at home with his wife, their dog, and cats, reading books and watching sports. Joe had a love of following many sports teams and would always have the latest for an engaging conversation. Joe stayed in close touch with his children and grandchildren near and far. Calling almost weekly for updates on life. His children remember him as a caring, hardworking father who encouraged them to pursue their goals.
