It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Roberta Grace Young, after a long illness. Roberta was born June 6, 1936, and passed away in her sleep June 7, 2023, at the age of 87.In her younger years Roberta loved to roller skate. It was at a skating rink that she met the love of her life Raymond Young. He worked there part-time while he was serving in the Navy. Dad always said, “she was the prettiest girl there”. They soon married and had their first of 4 sons. After being discharged they moved to Crescent City, California to work at his family’s business Glen’s Bakery. Roberta as a Counter girl/Waitress and Ray as a Baker/Cook. They had three more sons, losing one as an infant. In 1973 they bought the business from his parents Glen and Rachel where they operated it for many more years.Roberta loved to help people and it showed. Being a classroom mother helping with class parties and field trips, cub scout den mother, past president of the downtown business improvement district (BID), and a former Grand Marshall of the Fourth of July parade to name a few. She was also known for her big house on Lauff Street that she would elaborately decorate every year for Christmas. Also known as the lady that gave out the big candy bars at Halloween. She loved the Lord, her family, friends, and her community.Roberta was preceded in death by her parents Harry and Wilma Stearns. Her husband of 61 years Ray and her baby boy Randy. She is survived by her sons Ray JR., Rory, and Ricky. Numerous Grandchildren, Great grandchildren, and many other relatives.Due to some unforeseen circumstances, there will not be a funeral or graveside service.The family will be holding a celebration of life in the near future, and we will keep everyone posted.
