“May her spirit guide us as we navigate the journey of grief, always remembering the light she brought into our lives.” Those were the words Mandy Bloomfield wrote regarding the tragic car accident which took the life of her daughter, Kirsten Jean King, 19.Kirsten was an aspiring nursing student who was living with her grandparents, Robert and Barbara Jimenez, and had just established California residency and was poised to enter the nursing program at College of the Redwoods in Crescent City. This shining star was working full-time at Sea View Memory Care. Grandpa Bob said of Kirsten, “Kirsten just loved to help people.”The details of the tragedy have been released by the Highway Patrol. At approximately 3 p.m. on May 31, Kirsten was driving east on Kristian Lane toward Highway 101. Attempting to turn left and head north, Kirsten’s vehicle was struck by a logging truck heading south on 101. The logging truck was unable to avoid the collision with Kirsten and struck the Mazda broadside. Del Norte Ambulance rushed Kirsten to Sutter Coast where she succumbed to her injuries and pronounced deceased at the hospital. The cause if the crash is under investigation.#placement_573654_0_i{width:100%;max-width:550px;margin:0 auto;}var rnd = window.rnd || Math.floor(Math.random()*10e6);var pid573654 = window.pid573654 || rnd;var plc573654 = window.plc573654 || 0;var abkw = window.abkw || '';var absrc = 'https://ads.empowerlocal.co/adserve/;ID=181918;size=0x0;setID=573654;type=js;sw='+screen.width+';sh='+screen.height+';spr='+window.devicePixelRatio+';kw='+abkw+';pid='+pid573654+';place='+(plc573654++)+';rnd='+rnd+';click=CLICK_MACRO_PLACEHOLDER';var _absrc = absrc.split("type=js"); absrc = _absrc[0] + 'type=js;referrer=' + encodeURIComponent(document.location.href) + _absrc[1];document.write('');The shocking grief and funeral costs are more than formidable. A Go Fund Me page has been established by Kirsten’s great uncle, Chris Carpenter. The Go Fund Me account is called the Kirsten King Funeral Expenses account.Kirsten’s remains were transported to San Leandro for possible organ, skin and corneal transplant procedures.The family plans a private service and a celebration of life for Kirsten Jean King on July 16 in Crescent City.In honoring Kirsten’s memory, the family asks the community to “cherish the moments we shared with her and carry forward the love and compassion she embodied.” googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('ad-1515727'); });
