Jamie Daughtery, chief executive officer of Coastal Home Health and Hospice, announced the office is now open at 786 H St. At present, Coastal Hospice serves the Medicare-only community with a full list of qualified professionals serving the needs of individuals who have six months or less to live.Mark Silver, MD, is medical director who will work alongside a team of registered nurses, social workers, clergy and other dedicated volunteers who provide the highest level of dignity for those who are in the last stages of life. At the time of his passing at 76, there was no hospice care offered in Del Norte County. Brian’s last wish before his passing was for this community to introduce hospice care. Brian said “everyone has the right to die well.”Despite a state-wide moratorium on issuing new licenses, two applicants made successful efforts to introduce hospice care to Del Norte County: Coastal Home Heath and Hospice is fully accredited and Sutter Coast hospice will be operational in the Fall.
