College of the Redwoods has hired Brandon Benvenuti as their new head coach of the men’s and women’s wrestling teams and will restore the wrestling program at CR. Recognizing the valuable talent pool that exists within the local community, CR and Coach Benvenuti will strive to establish strong ties and open lines of communication with the high school wrestling coaches. “We are extremely excited to welcome Brandon to the CR Athletic Department,” said CR Athletics Director Bob Brown. "Brandon brings a strong and extensive background in the sport of wrestling, both as a competitor and as a coach. He has worked with All-Americans and contributed to championship teams at Grand View University. Recently, he assisted the men's wrestling squad at Lindsey Wilson College, leading them to become Mid-South NAIA Conference Champions. We anticipate Brandon's valuable leadership will strengthen our department and community."CR President Dr. Keith Flamer is also enthusiastic, reporting, “After a nationwide search, we are confident in Coach Benvenuti's ability to restore CR's men's wrestling team and establish CR's women's team.
