Harold Phillip “Phil” Carter passed away on March 19, 2023, in Crescent City, CA. He had been a resident of Klamath, CA since 1981. He was born September 2, 1941, in Burkesville, KY, the youngest son of Clarence Walter Carter and Lena Elsie Carter. He was one of 6 children: Leslie Carter, Helen (Carter) Cloyd, Kenneth Carter, Howard Carter, and Dian (Carter) Watkins. He is survived by his youngest sister Dian Watkins of Bakersfield, CA.Phil was a Veteran having served 20 years in the United States Air Force, 1961-1981. During his 20-year Air Force career he achieved the rank of Master Sergeant and received multiple commendations. He was stationed at the Air Force Base in Klamath from 1973 - 1975, working at the radar base on Requa. It was his time there that influenced the decision to retire with his family to Klamath in 1981.After his Air Force retirement Phil worked as an electrician at Simpson Klamath, Simpson Korbel, Blue Lake Forest Products, and Hambro Forest Products.He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Vivian (McDonald) Carter. He leaves behind his three daughters, Patty Johnson (Don Johnson), Sheri Blankenheim (Charlie Blankenheim), Julie Clark (Erik Bjorkstrand) and nine grandchildren Lizz Johnson, Matthew Stevens (Shermila Pia), Christopher Stevens (Cheryl Perich), Nicholas Johnson, Michael Clark, Samuel Clark, Katie Blankenheim, Bradley Blankenheim, and Taylee Bjorkstrand.
