Crescent City accepted a $3 million grant award from the State Department of Parks and Recreation for the Prop 68 Rural Recreation and Tourism Grant Program.In January of 2022, councilors approved an application for Prop 68 funds to build the amphitheater and Waterfront Plaza park, highlighted from the Beachfront Park Master Plan. There are no city funds match required in this grant. The funding joins $5 million in additional Statewide Park Program funding, $178,000 in Prop 68 Per Capita funding, $200,000 in Coastal funding and $65,000 in California Endowment funding. State law changed allowing visitorsβ status to change to standard tenancy which would change ability to evict a tenant through the court process on the 31st day. Reducing the stay to 28 days gives adequate warning to staff management that guests will not overstay their reservation.β’ Taylor also asked for the park policy to change its refund policy, allowing refunds upon five day notice, less a $15 cancellation fee. Policy changes effectuate April 3.Councilors approved the RV park policies on a unanimous vote.The council received encouraging revenue news. Director of Finance Linda Lever reported:β’ Sales tax revenues increased allowing the budget to increase and additional $200,000.β’ Measure S funding increased allowing for an additional $300,000 to the budget.β’ Income from Short term vacation rentals affecting Transient Occupancy Tax (TOT) also rose in the last two quarters.Lever recommended a $118,000 budget increase.
