John F. Barnum, 63, passed peacefully February 7, 2023. John was born in Crescent City and grew up in Smith River. He attended Del Norte High School. His first job was at Dahlstrom & Watt. In 1977, he relocated to Santa Maria, worked in the oil fields, sold cars for local dealers and later the grocery industry. John owned and operated Early Bird Landscape before his retirement in 2017. John had a strong work ethic and provided a good life for his family. John enjoyed cigars, owned classic cars, was an avid sports fan and animal lover. He had an amazing rose garden and delighted spending time at his BBQ pit with family. His laughter and charming sense of humor will be greatly missed. John’s memory will live on in the lives of his survivors, daughter Lauren, lifelong partner Tami, sisters Pam Johnson (Joe), Marsha Robinson & family, niece Christina Codazzi (Eric, son AJ), nephew Jeff Johnson (Melissa & children), extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Beverly Barnum, sister Diane, and cousin Rick Barnum.A memorial is planned for Saturday, March 25, 2023, at 11 am at Waller Park, Area 6.
