Regarding this article in last week’s the “DN Triplicate”, I am disappointed that the Crescent City Council agreed to spend $10,000 (residents’ taxes) on 914 “items” by Val Polyanin (received from Hambros, a trash and recycling company). Further, I am dismayed that The City Economic Development director presented 4 options to the City. I would like to suggest a 5th option, that is to contact an auction house and arrange to sell a few of these “914 items”.I think the support for the above by Mayor Pro Tem Inscore, Councilor Greenough, and Mayor Wright is without merit when the lovely “Dolphin” sculpture (at the fountain in the Plaza) was removed years ago and remains in disrepair. Whenever I have contacted the City regarding the status of the “Dolphin” sculpture’s repair, the City states that there is no money to fix it.Given that this $10,000 has surprisingly been made available, I would like to suggest that the “Dolphin” fountain be promptly repaired and replaced for the community to enjoy again.#placement_573654_0_i{width:100%;max-width:550px;margin:0 auto;}var rnd = window.rnd || Math.floor(Math.random()*10e6);var pid573654 = window.pid573654 || rnd;var plc573654 = window.plc573654 || 0;var abkw = window.abkw || '';var absrc = 'https://ads.empowerlocal.co/adserve/;ID=181918;size=0x0;setID=573654;type=js;sw='+screen.width+';sh='+screen.height+';spr='+window.devicePixelRatio+';kw='+abkw+';pid='+pid573654+';place='+(plc573654++)+';rnd='+rnd+';click=CLICK_MACRO_PLACEHOLDER';var _absrc = absrc.split("type=js"); absrc = _absrc[0] + 'type=js;referrer=' + encodeURIComponent(document.location.href) + _absrc[1];document.write('');Please consider the return of the “Dolphin” sculpture as an event to celebrate on a “First Friday”; meanwhile, contacting auction houses to sell a few of these “914 items” the City agreed to accept.
