Some 400 Del Norters braved the weather to honor those who served the military of the United States of America. The annual Veterans Day Parade Parade and luncheon was sponsored by the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 1381 and featured 23 floats, bands and equestians.The parade started slightly before the 10 a.m. scheduled start to avoid the ominous storm on the horizon. Mother Nature cooperated as the rain began after the parade was completed. Recognition and appreciation is given to all who worked to have this important memorial erected after the unfortunate vandalism incident several weeks back.Formally known as Armistice Day, Congress changed the name to Veterans Day in 1954, marking the end of military hostilities at 11 a.m. of the 11th day of the 11th month, in 1918.
