Ruben Gonzales went to be home with the Lord on September 24, 2022, at 75 years old in Crescent City, CA. He was a loving father, stepfather, step-grandpa, partner, brother, uncle, and friend. Ruben was born and raised in El Paso, TX and later moved to Fairfield, CA where he would begin his career at Mare Island Naval Shipyard and become a member of the Moose Lodge #861 and the Eagles.Later Ruben was transferred to McChord Air Force Base where he made his home in Lakewood, WA until he retired.He was employed with the Department of Defense for almost 40 years. Ruben loved being of help and was an example of tenacity and hard work.Until his death, he was an employee of Elk Valley Casino.He was also a caregiver to his ex-wife Marilyn “Mickie” Gonzales until she passed.He is survived by his daughter Sunny (Dennis) Valero, stepdaughters Sarana (Jeff) Bales, Summer Moore, Kimberly (Ron) Huyck and step-grandchildren Chris, Tyson, Trenton, Joshua, Ronnie, Dylan and Bailee, and great step-grandchildren Valo, Livy, Josie, Ava, Nora, and Averie. He is also survived by siblings, Estela Belmontes, Alfredo Gonzales, Armando Gonzales, Yolanda Gandara and Graciela Chireileison and many loved nieces and nephews.Ruben is preceded in death by his parents Trinidad and Epifania Gonzales, siblings Ramona, Amelia, Gloria, Elena, Raul, and Gilberto.Those that knew Ruben, knew his love for music- especially Motown, oldies, and mariachi. He loved playing games and was proud of and loved his family. He loved to laugh, tinker with projects and was always willing to lend a hand.Our faith tells us this is not good-bye. Until we see each other again, we will miss you here Dad.
