In last week’s “View from the left” Kevin Hendrick wrote in support of Supervisor Sue Masten as the candidate you should vote for this November 8th because of her strong ties to Governor Gavin Newsom who appointed her and to the Democrat politicians who endorsed her. He seems to think what the Governor’s policies and legislation have done to Del Norte County is positive. I believe their policies have brought misery and chaos. We have less safe streets. We’ve got the homeless population exploding in huge numbers. We’ve have rampant drug use. We recognize that the left is pushing terrible policies making all of those bad things worse. They have emptied our prisons and jails and caused crime to rise. They have brought us higher taxes, higher rents, higher fuel and energy costs. Kevin Hendrick wants this type of leadership on the Board of Supervisors, do you?He calls me radical and far right and I suppose in his eyes I am. You see I believe in the Constitution of the United States which all elected officials take an “Oath” to defend. I take that very seriously; I did as Sheriff and will if elected Supervisor. I have always been open and honest about my principles and where I stand. I believe the voter should know who they’re voting for and the values I hold. For forty years I was a registered democrat, but that party is long dead. Today’s Democrat party has gone woke and progressive with an ideology that has replaced religion. They are intolerant of any view that opposes their narrative. Those in the 60’s that opposed the “Man” have become the “Man” with a thirst for power that would make Mao proud. Both Kevin and Sue see bigger government as better government. I know that as an elected you are a servant to those that you represent, you work for the people. If I am elected, I will make sure everything we do is done to increase your liberty and does not take away or restrict your rights as guaranteed by the Constitution. I would never vote to close a church, business, school or force a medical procedure on anyone. It is not about right or left: it’s about common sense solutions.Kevin Hendrick wants you to believe the ads put out by Sue Masten claiming the Del Norte County Sheriffs Employees Assoc. endorsed her in this election, and they should not be questioned. Facts matter and you should be honest if you’re asking for someone’s vote. The Sheriff’s Employees Assoc. never endorsed anyone in this election and were angry with their President for inappropriately speaking for their group. The Sheriff’s Employees Assoc. drafted a letter to this paper clarifying their postition and requested they pull the false ad ran by Sue Masten but the Triplicate allowed them to be placed in their papers without notice of correction. #placement_573654_0_i{width:100%;max-width:550px;margin:0 auto;}var rnd = window.rnd || Math.floor(Math.random()*10e6);var pid573654 = window.pid573654 || rnd;var plc573654 = window.plc573654 || 0;var abkw = window.abkw || '';var absrc = 'https://ads.empowerlocal.co/adserve/;ID=181918;size=0x0;setID=573654;type=js;sw='+screen.width+';sh='+screen.height+';spr='+window.devicePixelRatio+';kw='+abkw+';pid='+pid573654+';place='+(plc573654++)+';rnd='+rnd+';click=CLICK_MACRO_PLACEHOLDER';var _absrc = absrc.split("type=js"); absrc = _absrc[0] + 'type=js;referrer=' + encodeURIComponent(document.location.href) + _absrc[1];document.write('');I know as a candidate I always had to validate every claim I made in any ad I ran. Truth always matters and if it matters to you then vote Dean Wilson for Supervisor District 5Dean Wilson, Candidate Supervisor District 5Crescent City googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('ad-1515727'); });
