By now many of us have experienced the devastating impact of Alzheimer’s Disease and dementia. In my family, it was my mother, Edythe Neely, who would be the victim of this terrible disease. She fought it for nine years.Today, my sister Kelly Sanders and I co-chair the Walk to End Alzheimer’s here in Northern California. Our purpose is to raise money for research to find the cure. Currently there are two pieces of legislation that we could use your help with: The National Alzheimer’s Program Act (NAPA) passed in 2011 and the Alzheimer’ Accountability Act (AAA) in 2015. Prior to the passage of these two bills, no plan at the federal level existed. Both NAPA and AAA are set to expire in 2025. This would be a disaster for families on the North Coast and would halt years of progress toward a world without Alzheimer’s.Please contact our Congressman Jared Huffman and let him know that you think this funding is important. We should all encourage Congressman Huffman to be a co-sponsor of this bipartisan effort to renew both NAPA and AAA and continue the decade of progress to eradicate this disease. To get involved in the fight against Alzheimer’s, join our Walk in Humboldt County scheduled for Saturday, October 8. Or, just go online and make a donation to one of our existing teams.#placement_573654_0_i{width:100%;max-width:550px;margin:0 auto;}var rnd = window.rnd || Math.floor(Math.random()*10e6);var pid573654 = window.pid573654 || rnd;var plc573654 = window.plc573654 || 0;var abkw = window.abkw || '';var absrc = 'https://ads.empowerlocal.co/adserve/;ID=181918;size=0x0;setID=573654;type=js;sw='+screen.width+';sh='+screen.height+';spr='+window.devicePixelRatio+';kw='+abkw+';pid='+pid573654+';place='+(plc573654++)+';rnd='+rnd+';click=CLICK_MACRO_PLACEHOLDER';var _absrc = absrc.split("type=js"); absrc = _absrc[0] + 'type=js;referrer=' + encodeURIComponent(document.location.href) + _absrc[1];document.write('');Support this legislation and join our Walk in Eureka.
