Lehena Marcheta Owen was born in Dolan, Indiana, to Robert and Mary Campbell on January 7, 1931, and passed away in Crescent City, California on August 10, 2022, aged 91 years.In 1945, she moved to Cave Junction, Oregon, where she attended Kerby High School, shortly after graduating, she married Jack L. Owen. They had two sons, Steven and Robert. At the time of her death, Jack and Marcheta had been married 73 years.In 1963, they moved to Crescent City, California, where jack drove lumber truck and Marcheta worked as a secretary, most notably for over twenty years at Miller Redwood Company, where she was the executive secretary.Marcheta enjoyed painting and sculpture, taking care of her home, entertaining friends, and listening to her sons play their guitars and sing. She was an avid supporter of the Del Norte County Fair and served for several years as a member of the fair board.She was active politically and met several California governors and one President, George H. W. Bush.Marcheta was well known and admired in her community. She is survived by her husband, her sons and daughters-in-law, her nine grandchildren, and numerous great and great-great grandchildren, as well as several beloved nieces and nephews.According to her wishes, a simple service will be held Saturday, September 24, at 1PM at the Arts and Crafts Building of the Del Norte County Fairgrounds in Crescent City.
