Senate Majority Leader Mike McGuire was appointed by Senate President Toni Atkins, along with a select group of legislators, to help negotiate and hammer out the details of California’s historic climate action package that was passed last week in the final hours of the 2022 legislative session. McGuire released the following statement:“Last night’s action in the Legislature represents some of the most consequential steps in our state’s history to combat the climate crisis. Working with the governor and his team, the Senate and Assembly will now be sending some of America’s most aggressive climate legislation, along with a historic $54 billion climate action budget, to Mr. Newsom’s desk.#placement_573654_0_i{width:100%;max-width:550px;margin:0 auto;}var rnd = window.rnd || Math.floor(Math.random()*10e6);var pid573654 = window.pid573654 || rnd;var plc573654 = window.plc573654 || 0;var abkw = window.abkw || '';var absrc = 'https://ads.empowerlocal.co/adserve/;ID=181918;size=0x0;setID=573654;type=js;sw='+screen.width+';sh='+screen.height+';spr='+window.devicePixelRatio+';kw='+abkw+';pid='+pid573654+';place='+(plc573654++)+';rnd='+rnd+';click=CLICK_MACRO_PLACEHOLDER';var _absrc = absrc.split("type=js"); absrc = _absrc[0] + 'type=js;referrer=' + encodeURIComponent(document.location.href) + _absrc[1];document.write('');“Californians are already feeling the impacts of the climate crisis with larger and more intense wildfires, record heat and a historic drought. State leaders must continue to set aside their differences and move with speed to implement data driven policies that will ensure a more resilient future.” We’re incredibly grateful for the leadership of Governor Newsom, President Atkins and Speaker Rendon who came together to advance this consequential legislation and funding that will positively impact generations of Californians.”The legislature’s climate package includes measures that will shape the state’s climate action for years to come, including accelerating our state’s clean energy policy goals, greening our energy grid, and reducing our statewide greenhouse gas emissions at a faster pace. googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('ad-1515727'); });
