Hi, my name is Jone Robbins and I stay in Crescent City during the summers. So I’ve been gone six months and came back in May, and just wanted to leave you a quick note and let you know that I thought Crescent City was noticeably cleaner.I’ve been looking for trash and most of it’s all gone and I know about the program Mission Possible and I’d like to give them credit. Jone RobbinsEditor’s note: Mission Possible is certainly one of our local organizations that is helping to clean up Crescent City by removing more than two tons of trash weekly from homeless camps and other areas of Crescent City. More important, Mission Possible is helping people who have stumbled in life and need a helping hand to get back up.Other organizations that actively clean up our community include the Smith River Alliance, which removed 1,500 pounds of trash off our beaches on July 5, and Roger Gitlin’s Take a Bite out of Blight and Pride in Community volunteer programs, which attack viscious weeds that grow in the cracks of sidewalks and streets.On Tuesday, the Board of Supervisors, on Supervisor Susan Masden’s request, took up the issue of installing portable toilets and additional trash receptacles on South Beach.
