Judson Peter Brohmer, 85 years old of Gasquet, CA passed away on Friday, June 3rd of heart failure.Judson was born on March 27th, 1937, to Paul Brohmer and Elizabeth Mattison in Palo Alto, CA. He was survived by his two children, Zach and Joanne Brohmer, his brother Steven Brohmer and sister Judy Brohmer, and grandchildren Rachel & Daniel Pinci, Stepahanie, Sean & Juliana Brohmer, and lastly his beloved dog Betsy. He is now in heaven with his two other children, Jay Brohmer and Brooke Highlander.Judson served in the Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict. He went on to become a sound engineer at Ampex in the 70’s and then decided on a quieter life as the owner of the Gasquet Market where he became a well-known figure in his community. He loved to give his gifts and voice generously to the people and causes in his community. He served as president of the Del Norte County School Board as well as served on the Gasquet Fire & Water Board and several veteran activities.Judson was an innovator, tinker fairy and avid gardener. Cooking was always an adventure for him, and he always made a mess in the kitchen. He enjoyed his country life and was grateful for his neighbors. He was known for his “Brohmer” dry and witty humor, his stubbornness as well as his big heart and generosity.Services will be held Sunday July 17th at the American Legion Hall in Gasquet, CA at 11am.Instead of flowers, the family requests that you make charitable donations to the Gasquet Fire Department community fund.Ashes will be dispersed by family and friends.
