A Smith River man could spend the rest of his life behind bars after he was sentenced last week for possession and control of child pornography.Christopher Michael Macfarland, 39, was sentenced to 25 years to life in prison after being found guilty of possession of child pornography and possession/control of child pornography. The case was prosecuted by the Del Norte County District Attorney’s Office. “An outstanding investigation was conducted by Del Norte County Sheriff’s Investigator Asbury,” Sheriff Garrett Scott said. “This case involved many complex components, including warrants, countless hours of research and interviews of both victims and suspects.
