Attention kids of all ages! Monster trucks have invaded Crescent City!Half truck, half prehistoric dinosaur, the Megasaurus left a trail of giant carbon footprints directly to the Del Norte County Fairgrounds looking for something to destroy. It can chomp on cars and trucks until there is nothing left but scrap metal. Its favorite feast: loud smoky “muscle”cars and trucks that race along Highway 101.Other heavy metal monsters that followed the Megasaurus to the fairgrounds, herded, then corralled inside the Del Norte County Fairgrounds are the Spitfire, the Rock Star, the Identity Theft, and the Weekend Warrior.#placement_573654_0_i{width:100%;max-width:550px;margin:0 auto;}var rnd = window.rnd || Math.floor(Math.random()*10e6);var pid573654 = window.pid573654 || rnd;var plc573654 = window.plc573654 || 0;var abkw = window.abkw || '';var absrc = 'https://ads.empowerlocal.co/adserve/;ID=181918;size=0x0;setID=573654;type=js;sw='+screen.width+';sh='+screen.height+';spr='+window.devicePixelRatio+';kw='+abkw+';pid='+pid573654+';place='+(plc573654++)+';rnd='+rnd+';click=CLICK_MACRO_PLACEHOLDER';var _absrc = absrc.split("type=js"); absrc = _absrc[0] + 'type=js;referrer=' + encodeURIComponent(document.location.href) + _absrc[1];document.write('');What all these beasts have in common are 540 cubic-inch supercharged big block engines that produce 1,500 horsepower while consuming clean burning methanol fuel. Most notable are the 66-inch diameter tires that can drive over a stalled car in the lane ahead.The “world’s loudest, fastest, and craziest jet powered golf cart” will bring more mechanical mayhem. Although smaller, this golf cart is just as much a public nuisance to the tranquility of the neighborhood as its monster truck cousins. It is no longer allowed on most golf courses.It is rumored that one monster truck has been tamed to the point where rides will be available for very brave adventure seekers, who can be strapped in 10 at a time.They can be seen at the fairgrounds on Friday, June 24, and Saturday, June 25. Gates open both nights at 4:30 p.m.; a party will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m.; and a metal smashing, tire squealing, dust kicking show will begin at 7 p.m. googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('ad-1515727'); });
