In addition to having a great sense of humor, he was also quite witty as well.Dad would say the funniest things, and a person would be hard not to laugh. He was a very kind and generous soul. John was devoted to his family & those closest to him. He may have not been a perfect man, for everyone does have flaws, but his kindness and general love for others made anyone he knew look past what flaws he possessed. For my father only had. He loved being outdoors; and spent a good amount of his life cutting wood and working in general outdoors. He always helped others when he could. Some would say he may have been too kind in nature, but that made anyone he met like him all the more.He worked for Caltrans 1st in Crescent City before he transferred to Sacramento, where he retired from. He loved music, classic cars, children, and animals. He enjoyed going to any casino. He loved to play slots & bingo!!! If he wasn’t working in the woods, you may have found him there. He was the best father he could be to myself and my sister. He was well liked by many & truly loved by his family & closest friends. He will be sorely missed by all those who knew & loved him.In his latest years he was battling with Cirrhosis of the Liver, caused by Hepatitis C. He was treated for the disease, but by then the damage it caused had ran its course. He lived a full life; but was taken from us too soon.A funeral service will be held for him on June 19th, 2022, in Eureka. It will be at Sanders Funeral Home in Eureka, CA.
