Morgan Stubbs of McKinleyville, was selected as the 2022 Dairy Princess for the California Milk Advisory Board’s District 1 in a crowning event on Friday, May 13, held at the River Lodge in Fortuna.Stubbs will represent District 1, which includes Humboldt and Del Norte counties. As Dairy Princess, she will play a key role on the CMAB’s Communications Services team in meeting community relations objectives.Morgan is the daughter of Tony and Carrie Stubbs. She is a Junior at McKinleyville High School and plans to pursue a degree in agricultural education at Oklahoma State University. Morgan is the president of her FFA chapter, where she participated in many community service activities as well as speaking competitions. She will be showing a dairy heifer this year. Morgan is a member of the McKinleyville High basketball, softball, and volleyball teams, as well as president of the Humboldt Del Norte Student Athletic Advisory Committee. She is also a principal’s honor roll student.Crowned 1st Alternate Dairy Princess was Sahalie Rodriguez, the daughter of Bert and Stacie Rodriguez. She is a Junior at Del Norte High School and plans to study pre-veterinary medicine at Montana State University, followed by veterinary medicine at the University of Montana. Sahalie is the treasurer of her FFA Chapter, where she completed a variety of supervised agriculture experience projects. Judges for the contest were Kathy Comerer of Fortuna, Lydia Leonardo of McKinleyville and Shelly Macdonald of Red Bluff.Sahalie and Tiera will assist the new District 1 Dairy Princess in her duties, which include speaking on behalf of the California dairy industry to various audiences throughout the year.As Dairy Princess and alternate, Morgan and Sahalie, will join Tiera for a professional development training focused on presentation skills, advocating for the California dairy industry, leadership and business etiquette.California is the nation’s leading milk producer. It also produces more butter, ice cream and nonfat dry milk than any other state. The state is the second-largest producer of cheese and yogurt.
