A van carrying three passengers went over the edge of Highway 199 at mile post 21 near Patrick Creek, about 10 miles north of Gasquet. The incident occurred at approximately 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 29.The Ford Econoline van had plunged 80 ft. down to Smith River. Public safety crews, including the California Highway Patrol, Gasquet Fire Department, and Cal Fire responded to the single-vehicle incident. One of the passengers had been placed on a stretcher and transported to for medical attention. Only three minor injuries were reported.
