Dharma Marie Aldapi Stevens, 53, passed away peacefully in her sleep on April 28, 2022, from natural causes, complications of chronic health problems. Her death was sudden and unexpected.Dharma was born on October 18, 1968, in San Francisco, CA, raised in the Excelsior District, bore two beautiful daughters there and carried always in her heart memories of her hometown and the experiences she had there that contributed to the values that identified her.She worked as a teacher, a domestic violence advocate, and an in-home healthcare provider. Mostly, she loved her family deeply, cared for children and the youth, always welcoming them into the warmth of her home.She loved animals, plants, and nature, always having a variety of pets, a colorful garden and enjoyed camping and the Jedidiah Smith River as well as the beach. She was known as generous, supportive, loving, compassionate, accepting of others, and a good cook. She dressed colorfully, draped herself in bangles, laughed and smiled a lot, and enjoyed getting her nails done. She nursed her mother, Marie Ely, during Marie’s last years, caring for her 24/7 until the end.Dharma is survived by her two beloved daughters, Ashley Rose and Maria-Antonia, the light of her life and granddaughter, Lucia Marie, her devoted son-in-law, Elijah, her loving uncle, Efrain, her adoring aunt, Denise, her out-of-state aunts, Cecilia and Jeanette, her first cousin with whom she was raised, Marie-Terese, her supportive friend she could always count on, Ann, her caring stepdad, Papa Ron, her husband, Carl, and a myriad of family members and friends who loved her, enjoyed her company or just miss her. We are sorry that we are unable to mention all the names of the people Dharma cared so dearly about. We believe that Dharma is watching over us and as now an honored ancestor, we can continue to learn from her and the examples she set.Dharma’s church service will be on Friday, May 20th, 12PM, at St. Joseph Church, 319 E St, Crescent City, CA 95531, preceded by the Holy Rosary at 11:30 at the same location.
