Dolor Almeida, age 88, a 22-year resident of Brookings, passed away at home on Friday, March 25th following a long illness. He was a native of Rosais, Sao Jorge, Azores, Portugal. He came to Brookings in 1999.Dolor was a dairy farmer in Gustin, California, and later in Buhl and Gooding, Idaho. He supported I.D.E.S. organizations throughout the San Joaquin Valley and Bay areas of California. He also made donations to the Portuguese National Church of the Five Wounds in San Jose, CA, the University of California at Davis and the Caine Veterinary Teaching Center.Survivors include his wife, Alvina Almeida; son Manuel Almeida; daughter Linda M. Almeida and one granddaughter Abbey Almeida. He was preceded in death by his brothers Jose S. Almeida, Miguel S. Almeida, Jaime S. Almeida, Manuel S. Almeida and sisters-in-law Macia Almeida and Nelia Almeida.A Rosary was recited on Thursday, April 7, 2022, at Redwood Memorial Chapel, 1020 Fifield Street, Brookings, Oregon. Visitation will be at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, 319 E Street, Crescent City, CA, from Noon until 2 p.m. on Friday, April 8, 2022.
